Naked Olympics - this would be sold out.

Naked ambition: Britain's Olympians strip down as they prepare to make history in Beijing
By Arthur MartinLast updated at 12:19 AM on 04th August 2008
Muscles taut and face locked in concentration, this is Rebecca Romero, who will be representing Britain in the Olympic games later this month. With a carefully placed arm and thigh to protect her modesty, she appears to be in perfect physical condition ahead of what will be a gruelling race in Beijing. The 28-year-old, who won a sliver medal in rowing at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, only took up cycling seriously in March 2006 after doctors recommended the sport to combat muscle fatigue she was experiencing.

Easy rider: Rower-turned-cyclist Rebecca Romero shows off her enviable physique on her bike
After reinventing herself as one of the world's top cyclists she will now seek to make history in China as the first British woman to win Olympic medals in two separate summer sports.
Romero's previous experience of cycling consisted of working in a bike shop as a teenager.
The athlete, who modestly describes herself as 'generally a lazy person', is now favourite to win the gold medal in the 3000m individual pursuit race in which she is already world champion.

The naked truth: Triple jumper Phillips Idowu shows off his toned body in all its glory
'I am a really sore loser and I probably will be gutted if I get anything less than the gold medal in Beijing,' she said.
Romero also suggested she might be tempted to take up a third sport after the Games.
She said: 'I might think about raising the bar a bit more. It might have to be a winter sport as I might not be able to wait for another Olympic cycle.'
Only one other Briton has achieved the feat of winning medals in two sports.
Welshman Paul Radmilovic won medals in swimming and water polo in the 1920s, two sports which are arguably more closely related than cycling and rowing.
In the modern Olympic era, the only athlete to have achieved it is American Tim Shaw, who won a swimming silver medal in Montreal in 1976 and a water polo silver in Los Angeles eight years later.Enlarge
Making waves: Swimmer Gregor Tait goes for a skinny dip
Triple jumper Phillips Idowu and swimmer Gregor Tait also posed naked for award-winning photographer Nadav Kander.
The images will be used as part of an advertising campaign for Powerade, the official sports drink of the Beijing Games.
Idowu, 29, who has been hailed as one of Britain's best hopes of a track and field gold medal, said: 'This is definitely one of the more unusual shoots I've taken part in, but also one of the most enjoyable.
'Nadav made us all feel really comfortable, and we had a lot of fun. The Inner Gear for an athlete - how we train, what we eat, drink and when we sleep - is as important as what we wear, and it's great that a campaign like this brings it to life.'

Striking: Phillips Idowu poses in one of the powerful images which will form the basis of an advertising campaign during the Olympics
Cathryn Sleight, marketing director for Coca-Cola Great Britain which produces Powerade, added: 'Everyone is used to seeing athletes in competition or winning, but we wanted to give people the chance to see the real make-up of an athlete and their muscle and power, celebrating the body and spirit and the hard work that goes into training for all athletes whatever your level

Holi and the Indians

What Bollywood stars did on Holi
By Subhash K. Jha, Mumbai, March 11:

Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan stayed away from Holi celebrations and so did others for various reasons. But the day brought colours to the lives of many actors who took off from work to be with family and friends.

A sneak peek at how the Bollywood stars spent the day. Amitabh Bachchan: "Nothing! We're celebrating no Holi this year. Yes, I know our home is an open house on Holi every year. Hopefully we'll be back to celebrating Holi next year. "This year too many tragic events have happened around us. On a personal level, my father's passing away then my mother's prolonged illness have suspended Holi celebrations in my house. And then, of course, the things that are happening in Mumbai city and the country. Do you think anyone is in the mood for celebration? We're not. Maybe next year."

Preity Zinta: "What am I doing for Holi? Nothing. Sleeping the whole day. Recovering from my jet lag after my trip to New Zealand. In any case, I think Holi has lost its original spirit long back."

Deepika Padukone: "I'll have the day off. I'll celebrate with my family and close friends." Farhan Akhtar: "For the time in living memory I won't be home for Holi. I'll be shooting abroad. It breaks my heart to miss Holi. Can't be helped."

Bipasha Basu: "I've no Holi plans. I'm allergic to the abeer and other Holi colours. I'll spend Holi with my family, devouring Holi delicacies. It's a diet-free day for me." Abhishek Bachchan: "I'll be shooting. No Holi this year at home. Just work." Genelia D'Souza: "I'll be shooting In Delhi on Holi."

Rajeev Khandelwal: "I'm shooting for 'Peter Gaya Kaam Se' in Goa. I'll be experiencing the Goan Holi for the first time." Hurman S. Baweja: "I'll be shooting in Delhi for 'It's My Life'. I think my lightmen, camera crew, director and co-stars will be my Holi victims. Watch out, here I come."

Himesh Reshammiya: "As always I prefer to work on auspicious days. I'll be recording a new song for 'Ishq Unplugged' on Holi." Urmila Matondkar: "I'm not much of a Holi person. I'll be chilling at home watching some good movies and hoping no one gets rowdy with women who have to step out of their homes."

Irrfan Khan: "I'll be in Dholpur shooting for 'Paan Singh Tomar' on Holi. We'll celebrate over there. After 'Billu' and 'Slumdog Millionaire' I'm in a festive mood." Manisha Koirala: "I'm throwing a party for close friends at the Marriot." Celina Jaitley: "This Holi I'm in Hyderabad. I'll be spending it with the cast and crew."

Tusshar Kapoor: "I'll be meeting up with my friends for lunch and not playing Holi, since I stopped doing that long ago."

In a recent poll - Robert is out.

Corbin and the CLICO debates

Tomorrow Corbin motion on CLICO will be debated in the national assembly. But the motion will be useless because all of what he is calling for the government has already implemented. So it would be like a damp squib.

And to ensure that Corbin score 0 points for his effort, I think that the Minister of Finance should read a ministerial statement before the debate and degut all the arguments. That will be fun. Then Corbin will really look stupid.

And the motion will really be useless and dead, if the PPP further corrected the motion, by changing all the offensive parts. Then all the anticipated hype, will not even be hot air it is just a useless excerise.

Good luck Ras Corbin! You deserved it with the PPP.

Where is President Jagdeo?

He is apparently in Belize. Please add which country you think he should visit next.

Corbin brother was an actor - Check Wikipedia.

Neville Marshall-Corbin (1934 – 31 March 2006) was a Guyanese cabaret singer, composer and recording artist who moved to England in the 1960s and originally studied acting, performing with the English Stage Company. He was born in Christianburg, Guyana.
His singing style was reflective of Nat 'King' Cole. A nine-time winner of the British TV talent contest Opportunity Knocks, he recorded such popular songs as "Mona Lisa", "How Sweet It Is", and "Come Home Love".
He was best known for the semi-regular role of Burt in the Black British sitcom Desmonds, as a member of The Georgetown Dreamers, a band that featured Desmond (Norman Beaton) and Raye's fellow real-life musicians Porkpie (Ram John Holder) and Vince (Count Prince Miller).
Raye performed several cabaret tributes to Nat Cole and also produced and directed the 1985 TV tribute to Cole entitled "A Nightingale Sang". He was also an opening act for such performers as The Supremes and Eartha Kitt.
His younger brother, Robert Corbin, is the current leader of the Peoples National Congress Reform (PNCR), the main Guyanese opposition political party.
Raye died in London, England on Friday, March 31, 2006 of prostate cancer.

Happy Holi

Happy Holi to all Guyanese, indeed to all citizens of the world.

Former Guyanese slave and Darwin - BBC

Memorial for Darwin slave mentor

Darwin was taught the art of taxidermy by Edmonstone
A memorial to a freed slave who was an unsung early mentor and inspiration to Charles Darwin in 1826, is being unveiled by a London arts venue.
Kings Place, in central London, has commissioned a plaque honouring Guyanese-born John Edmonstone.
Edmonstone is thought to have been key to informing Darwin's decision to study naturalism rather than medicine.
The plaque has been produced with the aid of the Wedgwood porcelain works and is being affixed at a bar in Edinburgh.
John Edmonstone was brought to Edinburgh in 1807 by Charles Edmonstone. When he was freed he took his former master's name.
Edmonstone (John) taught Darwin the art of taxidermy, when the evolution theorist was a student at Edinburgh University, between 1825 and 1827.
Edmondstone had learnt it from Charles' neighbour Charles Waterton.
Porcelain brooches
It was Edmonstone's long accounts of life in the tropical rainforests of South America that were thought to have inspired Darwin's interest in naturalism.
The Wedgwood family, Darwin's extended family, were prominent abolitionists, lead by his cousin Josiah Wedgwood.
The Staffordshire-based Wedgwood company has made the plaque in the style of Josiah Wedgwood's original anti-slavery porcelain brooches.
Dr Alan Wedgwood, ex-director of Josiah Wedgwood & Sons said: "Given the prominent support my ancestors gave to the anti-slavery cause - a cause shared by Charles Darwin - it is entirely appropriate that we should be supporting the memory of an unsung hero such as John Edmonstone."
The plaque is being unveiled at Negociants Bar, in Lothian Street, close to the site of John Edmonstone's dwelling, with the approval of Edinburgh City Council.

INVITATION TO A BOOK LAUNCH

All are invited to a book launch by CNS on TV. Please walk with yu TV face.

Electronic Voting at Congress Place

THE PNC introduced electronic voting at Congress Place. Rumours has it that the system was programed to give Corbin a victory.

Freedy pet peeves

1- Nirmal Rekha and the more than 50 bogus duty-free letters he signed as proved by the GRA’s investigation. ( There was an investigation, there was no wrong doing on Rekha's behalf, and those responsible was dealt with)
2 - Refusal of the US Embassy to grant the Minister of Foreign Trade four years ago a visa to travel to the US ( isn't this a right of the US to refuse anyone visa, everyday people are being rejected at the Embassy. The last I heard this Minister has been going to the US very often, I guess he must be going without a visa )

3 - Refusal to end the radio monopoly.( who needs radio, when you have the internet, grow up Freedy this is the age of technology)
4 - Refusal to accept the Freedom of Information Act. (this is an outright lie)

5 - Refusal to hold an inquiry in the Great Floods of 2005 when the Guyanese people know the floods resulted from the conservancy breach. (Why do you need an inquiry, if the conclusion is already reached by u that there was a breach. He has conviently forgot that the Citizen Initative headed by Joe Singh went in to the Conservancy Dam and did a detail examination, and found no such breach)

6 - The abysmal record of not one major narcotics trafficker being caught on Guyanese soil. (what happen to theM.V.Danielsen, and more recently the AFC financial backer, "pepper cocaine")

7 - The continued delay in the establishment of the DEA office in Georgetown ( Are the Americans really intrested in the office!)

8 - The continued delay in having the anti-money laundering commission. (idiot, the law is before a sectoral committee in parliament for deliberation)

9 - The continued refusal to have the Human Rights Commission ( this requires opposition input, are they willing to do it or will they fillibuster again.)

10 - The deplorable sexual misconduct of two high-level politicians ( who are these persons, he should name them Corbin was accused of rape, Freedy himself might be guilty of selling grades for sexual favors)

11 - The mysterious absence of any charge of corruption against even a third-tier PPP leader, much less those at the second and higher levels. ( if there is no case, how can people be charged, this is not a jungle it is a country)

12 - The abuse of power at UG that exceeded Burnham’s impulses ( what abuses is Freddy refering to? Maybe he should write about how the Council helped him to renew his contract, when the UG administration was going to threw him out.)

13 - The nasty domination of the state-owned media that is worse than when Burnham ruled( there is nothing wrong with government using the state media as part of its public relations efforts, in every decent country this is acceptable)

14 - The retention of a Ministerial Advisor(who) engaged in conduct unbecoming, that Burnham would not have tolerated ( is Freedy Burnham's psychic, how would he know?)

15 - The incredibly cheap sell-out of Guyana’s lands and properties that no PNC Government would have ever contemplated, and no other party except the PPP 16 would ever think of doing ( what is he refering to, and those land that was sold at current market value. I thought that we had all agree that the Private Sector is the engine of growth, so when they get land for development how is that a bad thing)

16 - A blog suspected to be run by people sympathetic to the government that any decent human being would find nauseating, with people photographed having homosexual love and the deliberately false identification of who these people are.( so get your own or rebutt the content, it is similar to rebutting your lies)

Happy International Women's Day

To all women across the world, Happy International Women's Day. You have done alot and you are deserving of this and many more days.

Which politician has four eyes?

Name the four eye politicians in Guyana?

AFC Press release.

The Alliance For Change registers its strongest condemnation against the management of CLICO (Guyana) Inc., the Commissioner of Insurance, and the Government of Guyana; more particularly, the Minister of Finance of Guyana, on the receipt of news that the Government has intervened to liquidate CLICO Guyana, and to appoint a Receiver to manage its affairs.
What kind of a backward party is this, the CLICO management screw up, the GoG is now trying to fix the problem so the AFC is calling for the people fixing the problem to stop.
This take over comes in the wake of statements made by both the President of Guyana, and the Company’s executives, not just two weeks ago, assured this nation that the economy of Guyana is sufficiently insulated against the effects of the global financial crisis, and that CLICO’s local operations are a separate entity from sister and associated companies under the CLICO Financial umbrella and would not be affected by the collapse of CL Financial.
So the AFC would prefer that the GoG announced two weeks ago that CLICO screw up, and create panic and a run on the company. How responsible for a party that will like to be in power.
The AFC had previously warned that the Government was being too complacent and inept by simply stating that Guyana’s financial system was sufficiently insulated from the shocks and tremors of the global financial tsunami. This attitude was in stark contrast to the situation in other Caribbean countries where governments and stakeholders had already begun examining ways of staving off the harsh effects of the ongoing financial global meltdown. “In this regard a multi-partisan strategy to the issue is the only approach at this time as we should follow the lead of other countries, by convening a dialogue of relevant national stakeholders. We need to drop the pretense and take the bull by the horns.”
In which coocoon was the AFC in when Jagdeo was consulting.
Immediate and drastic action has to be taken to avert a meltdown of the financial sector {do the AFC think this is ice} in Guyana.
As a start, the AFC demands the immediate resignations of both the Minister of Finance and the Commissioner of Insurance { the idots that head the AFC should resign instead}. The nation { since when the AFC can speak about the nation, when they represent 5 seats, how arrogant}now has no confidence in their ability to manage this obvious crisis given their lack of competency to foresee the consequences of this financial tragedy on Guyana’s economy, and for being less that honest and forthright with the people of Guyana. {The true motive of the AFC is not to solve the problem, but to create instability in the country. This motive is hidden behind the high sounding words of these old scamps}
What is required now is a clear and undiluted assessment of the true picture as it depicts the state of the financial sector in Guyana including, the degree of risk to the Guyana economy, and to the thousands who depend on the NIS, other pension schemes, savings plans, medical schemes and other financial services facilitated by CLICO Guyana and finance/investment companies in Guyana.
The above section was written by Bish Panday. Who is flip floping in the newspaper.
This is the last straw of the government’s deficiency, and incompetence as they have placed at risk the financial security and quality of life of thousands of Guyanese by their arrogant refusal to acknowledge the obvious threat, and to be forthright and honest with the people who expect nothing less from them at this time. Read what these jackasses have written, despite the government's assurances that they will ensure that CLICO depositors are protected.
Come on AFC, stop being Asshole's Financial Crap.

Tokenism in the PNC

PNC does not really like amerindian (first), people. This can be seen from the persons who are in the leadership of the party {only George Norton} is there. Can this be fair? When the PPP got three ministers who are amerindian. Come on PNC stop the tokenism.

New PNC protest

When would anyone in the PNC have the guts to protest against Corbin. And tell him that he should pack up and go home. The PPP is really getting a great time, because Corbin is such a sissy leader.

We need change. Corbin you are fired!

Corbin step children

Corbin is a known village Ram. He seems to be horning or daggering everything in sight. The quiz of the week is how many step children does the Hon. opposition leader have.

Guess which Williams is "happy"/ gay?

Some people seek and get happiness by various means, which Williams do you think is the happy one?

Wake up Keith Scott?

Keith Scott who is married to Walter Rodney’s sister is part of the PNC parliamentary team. PNC as we all know were accused of killing Walter, so Scott association with them is a real betrayal to all Guyanese who fought against the PNC in the hard old days.

Come on Keith wake up! It is time to walk away from this murdering outfit.

Who are trying to buy the "Pegasus"?

Rumours has it that they are many locals trying to buy this iconic structure. It is said that the hotel currently makes an annual profit of 1 million US, so it is a profitable investment. The rumours is that they are several expressions of intrest from:

1. Mr. Badal (Popeye man)

2. BK

3. Brassington fatman

4. GPC man

5. National Hardware man

Only time will tell if any of this is true.

Whats up with the AFC?

The latest buzz is that the AFC is linked to cocaine. Apparently the link was made by the President during his Babu John speech. Well we await the AFC response. Or will they change their name to Alliance For Cocaine? Ha, lets see what happens.

PNC fundrasing event

How the PNC does raise money?

Basil buy a pig from Felix, a old farmer partner, for $300.

Felix agree to deliver the pig the next day.

Next day, Felix drive up and said, "Sorry Basil, but I have some bad news. De pig dead."

"Well gie me back meh money," said Basil."Worse news boy, I went and spen it already.""OK, then. Just unload the pig."

"Wha yuh go do wid him?" asked Felix."You doan worry, I go raffle him."

"You cyan raffle a dead pig. Yuh mad or what!"

"Who seh so....you makin joke. Watch me. I ent tellin nobody he dead," said Basil.

A month later Felix bounce up Basil in the court. "Basil, wha happen with yuh dead pig boy?"

Basil replied, "Ah raffle him off nuh. Ah sell 500 hundred tickets at 5 dollars and ah rake in $2,500.00""Nobody eh make noise?" asked Felix"Only de fella who win. So ah gie him back he five dollars!"

No wonder Cde. Corbin, then tek the money and put it into CLICO. See two theif mek god laugh.

Corbin and CLICO?

How much money did Corbin have in CLICO? Speculation are that he had more than 100 million dollars. If this is true then the logical next question is where did he get the money from? And did he declare this with the Integrity Commission?

I wonder how much more money he has stashed away in other accounts, and institutions? I guess the PNC members will be asking the "leader" some tough questions soon.

Where are the Jagans?

On the 1st March, 2009 there was an impressive ceremony to commemorate the death anniversary of Dr. Jagan. Many of the top PPP members were in attendance, as shown in the photo. What was conspicuous was the absence of the Jagans? Can somebody explain?

Where in the world is BJ?

Where in the world is president BJ? It was reported that he left Guyana this morning can you guess his destination?
